TRAINING COURSE CALENDAR

Like it or loathe it…
…understanding the “Underpinning Knowledge” of aviation is a pivotal part of being a good pilot
or even going one step further, becoming an “Aviator”. There is so much to learn and it may not be just about the “Hands and Feet” part of aviation. Passing the CASA or RAAus exams is only the tip of the iceberg.
A good pilot will want to learn more about flying and an aviator will want to learn about all things aviation.

Here at Strike Aviation Training, we want to help pilots achieve their goals
and become the best they want to be.

It really is up to you to meet the minimums, and we are here to help you transcend
the basic pilot skill set and challenge you to be a better pilot …
… and ultimately perhaps an AVIATOR.

See below for our series of planned theory training courses.
If you have something else in mind, let us know.

our AVIATION courses

rpc theory

Starting your flying journey or just want a refresher? Theory exams are a vital part of becoming a safe and competent pilot, however studying the content by yourself can sometimes be confusing. Completing the practical in-flight training but still have required exams outstanding can be frustrating.

We decided to break the theory training into “Bite-Sized Chunks”. Keep an eye on the calendar of events and together, we will review Aircraft Systems, BAK, Air Law and Aircraft Radio Knowledge. Additionally, we will cover the important subject of Human Factors.

During the training you will be able to sit all the required exams for the issue of an RAAus - Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC)

aircraft owners 101

AHHhhhhh.. the dream of owning your own aircraft. Free to fly any time without booking and paying those aircraft hire rates. Pop down to the hangar, clean the windscreen and blast off, enjoying the freedom that is aviation, put her back in the hangar and home by Lunch. Living the dream!!

If you think this is the reality of aircraft ownership, I would suggest keep renting.

Insurance, Maintenance, Airworthiness Directives, Parts, Hangarage, Aging Aircraft. Find out about these subjects and more during this course.

Can’t make it in person, join “ON-LINE”. Ask us for details.

SCHEDULE 8 MAINTENANCE

CAR Schedule 8 permits pilots to carry out a definitive list of maintenance tasks on their aircraft.

However, pilots are responsible for ensuring they are familiar with, and can satisfactorily comply with, any manufacturer’s instructions regarding the maintenance before undertaking any of the tasks identified. CASA and RAAus strongly recommends guidance should be sought by pilots from a relevant Part 66 LAME on the correct aircraft maintenance practices and procedures.

This 2 day course will cover the requirements and provide the hands-on training for a cross-section of tasks. A Certificate of Completion will be provided which may help Commercial pilots "standout from the crowd" when looking for a job.

NAVIGATION THEORY

Are you ready to explore beyond the 25nm? Have your cross country endorsement and would like refresher training?

Learn flight navigation from our CFI, Karen who created maps in her previous career.

You will learn tips and tricks about map reading, weather, flight planning, diversions, lost procedure, EFB’s and more!

Course will run for one day for approximately 6 hours. There is a maximum of 3 students for this course.

DAILY INSPECTION
TECHNIQUES

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CARRY OUT A DAILY INSPECTION TO ENSURE THE AIRCRAFT IS AIRWORTHY?

Take part in this one day course so you will be confident in looking at various parts of the aircraft and actually knowing what is safe and what needs an engineer to look at.

Do you know the difference between a “Nyloc”, “MetalLoc” or a “Castellated” fastener and what determines if they are safe?

How about tyre pressures, brake fluid, wheel bearings and instrument serviceability, or are the seatbelts and seat rails in a safe condition?

If you are not sure - you need to do this course.

You cannot pull over to the nearest cloud to fix something you did not check before you left.

MAINTENANCE PLANNING

To get the best from your aircraft, knowing how to schedule maintenance is a skill that will not only improve safety and compliance, but it will also save you $$$ in the long run. Performing the appropriate maintenance when it recommended by the manufacturer will provide product longevity and should add value to your investment.

If you are an owner or a maintainer and you feel you are not performing the most effective maintenance, you need to do this course.

As a bonus, this course will discuss important information like how to read an Airworthiness Directive and a Service Bulletin and where to find the maintenance data that is applicable to your aircraft.

LOSS OF CONTROL
PREVENTION - PILOT

UPRT has been associated for quite some time with Airlines however, there is much work being carried out to investigate the root cause of a Loss of Control events, and it is not limited to airlines. In fact, Recreational and General Aviation have a much higher loss of life record than commercial operations.

Join us for a full 2 Day basic UPRT Course where you will review and further understand aerodynamics that matter - what you need to know in the cockpit, not in a text book.

The course includes 2Hrs of flying, where you will not only hone your basic skills, but you will put to work the "Aerodynamic Cockpit Concepts" learnt, and finish the course more confident and competent than when you started.

loc-i FOR THE
FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
DELIVERING “THE FIRST FIVE”

UPRT has been associated for quite some time with Airlines however, there is much work being carried out to investigate the root cause of a Loss of Control events, and it is not limited to airlines. In fact, there are far to many LOC-I events occurring with Flight Instructors onboard.

Join us for an immersive 2 Day Flight Instructor course - targeting LOC-I delivery for both RAAus and GA Flight Instructors. Together, we will challenge conventional thinking, exploring and enhancing your personal instructional skills. This will build confidence and empower you to confidently deliver "Primacy" for students to instinctively react appropriately to a potential LOC-I event.

You will spend 2Hrs in our aerobatic Decathlon building the skills necessary to train for the crucial "FIRST FIVE" lessons of a pilots career.

CESSNA 210
GENERAL COMPETENCY TRAINING

Planning to get ready for your first Commercial Pilot Job, or perhaps you just want to travel longer distances with more family and friends in a bigger, heavier, more complex aircraft?

Undertake training on VH-SFT "BIGGUS".

For many pilots, transitioning to an aircraft such as the 210 means taking their flying to the “NEXT LEVEL”. Specific training is required to fly a Cessna 210 due to it being a high-performance, complex aircraft, and transitioning from a simpler aircraft type requires specialized knowledge and skills. This includes understanding its unique systems, handling characteristics, and performance limitations, which differ from more basic training aircraft.

This comprehensive 6 Day full or part time course comprises of the following components;

ELEMENT 1 - PRE-COURSE STUDY & SKILLS ASSESMENT FLIGHT
Working though the “Pre-Course Study” program in your own time at home, will provide you information relating to the Cessna 210 systems as well as the avionics fitted to “Biggus” (VH-SFT). A basic understanding of the specific equipment fitted to the aircraft you are about to fly is not only good safe practice but will help streamline your training.

All course candidates are required to undergo a minimum 1 Hour assessment flight in our Cessna 172 prior to the commencement of Elements 2 and 3. (Included in the course cost). The purpose of this flight is to ascertain the candidates baseline of aircraft handling and understanding of aircraft energy state and configuration management.

ELEMENT 2 - GROUND TRAINING
The key aspects of our Cessna 210 Ground Training Element include;
Aircraft Systems
Performance Planning
Procedures
Operational Considerations
Understanding Energy Management

ELEMENT 3 – FLIGHT TRAINING
Finally, the time has come to strap on the venerable Cessna 210. Flight exercises performed will be like those you have encountered throughout you previous training are all pertinent to ensure the budding Cessna 210 pilot is best prepared to provide the safest possible environment for the crew, passengers and the aircraft.

ELEMENT 4 - OPTIONAL SCENARIO BASED TRAINING
Simulated Charter exercises. Bring family or friends on a 3 day supervised flight through outback Queensland and the Whitsundays and practice being their "professional Pilot". (POA)

To manage expectations, this course is not just a “Cessna 210 Familiarization Training Course”. It is much more than that.

Your level of skill and knowledge entering the course will ultimately determine what competency you will reach by the end of this training. Here at Strike Aviation Training, part of our culture is that your training never really ends.

Whether you progress to flying in the “Top End” on your first job, or taking friends and family on trips that create unforgettable memories, this course will prepare you for the next chapter of your aviation journey.
